CFULLHDMA: Playing with UDP multicast traffic

An undocumented feature reveal ;-)

Adding UDP multicast streams in the IMedia part of the CFULLHDMA.  Tested from 1.11.04.06/09

  • – open MSIE or Firefox: http://[ip-address]:41952/web/IMedia
  • – Add new Station and enter in the Title: UDP test Stream
  • – In the URL section add the following: udp://239.0.0.1:1234

save this.

For my test I used a simple MPG stream (high bandwidth could be problematic) of 800MB with 1 hour duration.

Download VideoLan (VLC) In my test environent I used 0.8.6c but I know there is a newer version available

create a startup line or batch file with the following command:

start vlc.exe -vvv [path to videofile] –sout “#duplicate{dst=std{access=udp,mux=ts,dst=239.0.0.1:1234}}” –repeat

example:

start vlc.exe -vvv E:\MPEG2\Video1.mpg –sout “#duplicate{dst=std{access=udp,mux=ts,dst=239.0.0.2:1234}}” –repeat

VLC will be started and plays the stream. Now go to your IMEdia part of the CFULLHDMA (Red remote control button) and select UDP test stream .. you stream must start .. where it is at that time ..

Oh .. and if your LED’s of your router / switches are flashing like hell .. hey that seems to be normal with this kind of traffic ;-)

No idea if someone can use it in his/her environment but this is the place to share..

Redesigning Study Room

Today we redesigned the study room which is our control room. The HiFi installation, the PC’s, the Notebook, the Server .. (around 4 UTP connections are in the wall so short cables is the only thing we need).

The server was moved to the livingroom (yeah, we have UTP there as well) on Saturday. Around 16.00h Sunday we moved it back to the study again. No downtime .. the UPS is alive ;-) About 1 or 2 minutes 20 seconds no network activity. It’s patched through a main connection to the main switch so no extra switches are used.

A little geeky but if it’s working, it is working great.

Weekend!

So .. it’s weekend.. a last e-mail just sent . and of course used a wrong from: address.. Pfff..

So do not expect toooooooo much this weekend. I am  r e l a x i n g (so watching TV series) .. and turning off the Monitor.

The AroundMyRoom Forum

I got request to create a forum as some people did not like to read all the comments. A forum to discuss the entries about items written in this weblog. Yes, you can think about CFULLHDMA, CH3SNAS, scripts to use on CH3SNAS, NZBGET and many other things.

The forum, no strings attached, is just a personal initiative and not related to any other thing than my personal website. If it’s success I can check how to expand…

CFULLHDMA & Remote Controls

Sometimes I get the question if I have available the IR codes for the CFULLHDMA. This is the link I give them.

But not everyone is having a Logitec Harmony. Some people do have a Philips / Marantz multifunctional remote controller. Like the Marantz RC9500 or Philips ProntoPro NG TSU7000 with for example the Wizz IT 9 software you can program the device.

And for this device you need ‘Hex descrete codes’ or something similar like that which are very long numbers to enter

Wilhelm-Jan was so kind to debug the remote control and create the following code list for Marantz and Philips remotes ..
