it worked

so, switched servers and saving hosting money now for my weblog.
What did I do?

I run movabletype version 3.0 for 3 domains now (liliancam.net, griftstate.com and aroundmyroom.com). The weblog resides on www.mixfans.org and from there it serves the domains to have a weblog running. (all those domains are my own and run as virtual host at my qube3
In the morning I upgraded to MT 3.0, imported the database from the old server into the new one and kept the standard templates.
finetuning some issues and did some trials with the fresh installed weblog. All worked fine immediately.
In the afternoon
Switching DNS to another IP, and checking if everything went well.
Tonight
added the statistics page for myself and put it in the crontab.
It’s cool to see if things work as expected, but still some work left.

Other Server, Other look

AroundMyRoom is now running from my own personal server. Running at home. The sample templates are fine for me, so I will not change to the old look. All entries are imported into the database and archives have been made also.

Kewl .. it feels like a fresh new start.

Paid for MovableType 3.0

I’ve registered Movabletype. It took some time due to some discounts I received but finally everything is ok.

With the donation discount and the ‘beta-tester’ discount the amount of money for MovableType was and is payable and reasonable (I paid almost nothing due to fact that the beta-tester discount should have been used at the end of all discounts but due to some failed transactions this went wrong.

The lovely Shelley kept her word and I am again/still a happy Movabletype user.

Now I am going to setup MT 3.0 at my private server and setup a number of domains at that server with MT 3.0 also AroundMyRoom.com will be transferred to that server. So a lot of things to do the forthcomming weeks.

How I am going to use MovableType

I run one Qube3 (linux server for users know little about Linux)
at that qube I run several virtual sites for my own

– griftstate.com –> weblog about my new home
– mixfreaks.nl –> weblog for my mailinglist for mixfreaks
– liliancam.net –> weblog of my wife & girlfriend
– aroundmyroom.com –> is going to be transferred to the Qube3

So in this situation I need at least (probably) a license for 4 weblogs running at 1 server but at 4 different domains, for 2 users. Of course I can install 4 times a MT version for every single virtual site, but that’s bogus.

In the license I cannot find that I am not allowed to do this or it must be written in a way I do not understand it..

MT 3.0

updated the 2.661 version to the free version of 3.0 I’ll give it a try ;-)

Main goal is to have MT running at my private server with 3 or 4 logs for Lilian and myself. Than I need more ‘licenses’ ..
No idea if I would void the license when running 1 version at 1 system for 3 virtual websites at my qube3.
