Work

Even on my holiday I’m working. Giving advice, explaining technology and understand the european market.

ISDN is integrated into the German market for 99% but in Italy: forget it. Maybe 5% or even less ..
So if you sell products: you have to know these kind of things. It’s nice to have an Annex A ADSL modem but the German market you will not sell to.

So I’m at the phone with some collegues abroad. Discussing, advising ..
I like this ..

Wireless bandit ..

A weblog about wardriving in Toronto, here I read about:

How WEP was broken

A paper describing how WEP was broken for under $100 by some summer interns at AT&T labs… Must’ve been quite a summer project. I wonder if they were hired to do something like this…

Summary: If you sniff about 5M-7M wireless packets on a WEP encrypted channel, you can deduce the WEP key quite easily. Look for AirSnort for the implementation of this attack.

Conclusion: WEP is broken, so use it at your own risk. MAC Address filtering is probably a better way to go, but even that is not terribly secure as many wireless cards can have their MAC address changed on demand.

Italy #2

Stil at 17.30 we are in Italy (Milano). The training ended and people were satisfied. Yesterday the information was very technical and today more commercial. We also had some wholesaledealer learning about our products. Great experience to talk about your products to people. Like a teacher!

Yesterday we went to a restaurant to eat an original PIZZA ! (Of course)

I can recommend Ristorante Tradizionale

Arrived

Arrived in Italy. 1.45 hours travel by Plane.

Good hotel and nice food. It’s hot overhere. very hot.

At home we had some problems with ADSL after some thunder. Resetting the devices solved the problem.
Right now I’m training some technical people about the stuff written about yesterday.

Okay just some remote blogging from Italy :-)

Italy

Tonight I will fly to Italy for a 2 day training course. Yup I train people.
Teaching my collegues abroad basic skills about: modems, isdn, adsl & networking (wired & wireless).

It will be fun.

Back to work

Back to work, reading stuff about 802.11b+, 802.11a and an article curry is refering to [about 300 Baud & BBS systems]

Last friday I made an install CD with my old BBS system for my collegue’s to use in their technical department. Just for simple testing a modem at 33k6. A BBS was and is still cool.
