  • With which firmware did you format the HDD: 1.02, 1.03 ?
  • How is it formatted? Single Disk, Raid1 etc…
  • Do you use UPnP Server ?
  • Do you use iTunes Server ?

CH3SNAS: Firmware release 1.03 Final

Please find in this entry the preview of the 1.03Final version just before it will be posted onto the official site at the end of this week.  Somewhere next week (but I will not be here in Europe)

This 1.03Final (2nd version) will be exact the same version when published at the Conceptronic driver website

The reason why it’s published here is to get valuable feedback from early adaptors so that a certain unseen important bug can be noticed before.

Our first version was withdrawn due to a nasty bug mentioned by early adaptors: data transferred could get corrupted. After getting a fix, there were still some issues left (rename folders causing an error message and ssl ftp did not work anymore), so therefore it took more time to release the 1.03Final version than expected. S O R R Y.

In this release some new added features and fixes compared to previous 1.03 version.

  • Fixed: formatting is stopping at 94%
  • Fixed: DHCP server issue offering IP to client
  • Fixed: Scan disk failure
  • Change: Changing cramfs into SquashFS
  • Added function:  fun_plug does not work on sdb2 : Fixed.
  • Fixed: data corruption (files getting bigger) when storing data with alternative tools (Total Commander etc).
  • Added: PureFTPD supports SIZE and MDTM
  • Fixed: HDD1 unable to sleep in Raid1 mode
  • Added Request : FTP Server support option -O : ftp logging
  • Change: UPnP server: Refresh newly added files automatically,  so we removed the “Refresh” button and Auto Refresh Timer from the GUI. (enable / disable will re-index the total database) The database will not be updated when using FTP. This change will make the UPnP server run more stable.
  • Added Request : PureFTPD supports SSL
  • Added function: Scan Disk functionality

no guarantees & warranties ;-)

Conceptronic CH3SNAS firmware 1.03Final Release

Important info: 1.03Final can cause files to become corrupted when copying data with an alternative copy tool, like: Total Commander and/or TeraCopy etc. This has been reported by several users and I could finally reproduce it today.

Therefore please use 1.03b6a again to be sure your copied data will not be corrupted!

New firmware to be expected today /tomorrow. It will be the final 1.03 version

Released: 1.03Final

  • added Request : PureFTPD supports SIZE and MDTM
  • added Request: SSL support
  • Fixed: HDD1 unable to sleep in Raid1 mode
  • added Request : FTP Server support option -O : ftp logging
  • Refresh only new added files automatically (instantly), so remove the “Refresh” button and Auto Refresh Timer from GUI for UPnP AV server part / I-Tunes part. this will give more stability and better performance. Note: Works through SAMBA shares, FTP is unknown
  • added Request: NFS v3 option enabled (for use with fun_plug: untested)
  • added: scandisk returned
  • Questionmark: fun_plug installation workable? Existing installations seems to work, but I was unable to get it working on my device (from scratsch) <sigh> unrar the funplug put it in the root of Volume_1 .. reboot .. no go :-( I think I do something wrong .. strange: Volume_2 .. worked

Other options requested are scheduled for 1.04 (like the HELO part for Matthijs)

Last Friday a lot of websites (like Engadget) reported about the Conceptronic MediaGiant to be presented during Cebit 2008. Above the first 6 images I made from a sample device. Hit the image to get a bigger one to try to see more details.

it’s not ready for sale yet .. but we are working on that. A MultiMedia Player with tons of features including Twonky UPnP Media Server, GuidePlus, A Touchpanel, HDMI, Component etc..

Pricing?

Starting from EUR 349,– (depending on the size of HDD and if you need the Ethernet over Power yes or no (really kewl feature))

If you need a full HDTV capable playing device than your wish is the successor of the C54WMP: the CFULLHDMA (with 1080p support, MKV, MOV etc. etc!
